Product Description
Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a terrible burden to bear. It not only affects people psychologically, robbing them of peace of mind and inner tranquility; it damages them physically. Traumatic stress can result from negative emotional experiences during childhood. It can also arise in adults as a result of war, assault, or similarly traumatic experiences. Some of the symptoms of PTSD are:. Insomnia. Digestive disorders. Flashbacks and nightmares. Irritability, jumpiness, being easily triggered by events. Rage, grief and guilt. Anxiety, panic attacks, depression. Feeling isolated and unsafeIf you or someone you know has these symptoms, EFT can help. In scientific studies of war veterans and other traumatized groups, EFT has been shown to reduce or eliminate PTSD, sometimes in just a few short sessions. Not only do PTSD sufferers experience immediate relief, but the positive results extend long after treatment. This manual is a lifeline for those suffering from PTSD and their families. It also contains special sections that gather together the experience of many physicians, psychotherapists, social workers and coaches who have used EFT.

It’s called cold reading and the placebo effect. You see, people who read this book are likely to believe that these asinine exercises work as opposed to us rational intellectuals, who believe in a little thing I like to call “science”. The high ratings this book received are likely the work of the consumers (who live in fairy tale land) and can “swear by it”. Who can blame them? Who can argue with them? Any logic explained to these ‘lost causes’ can be swatted away easily. “Why aren’t these techniques more popular if it, allegedly, works without fail to ‘reduce or eliminate PTSD’, ‘back-pain’, ‘anxiety’, ‘guilt’, etc.. “Oh, you see, “they” [presumably the pharmaceutical companies, or any other organization that can't defend themselves] don’t want you to know about them because keeping you sick ensures good business for these pill-pushers.”

I’ll be the first to admit that the pharmaceutical companies have a conflict of interest and employ unfair tactics. The funny thing is, though, so does this Dr. Craid… oh, that’s right, sorry, Mr. Craig. But why would I be so angry? Who can blame him?

    I can.

And why am I so angry is this book was given to me to help me with my PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). I, of course, didn’t buy it, as I have a knack for sniffing out scams; it’s a gift, really. To appease the man who bought this book for me, I humoured him and memorized the “exercises” and, as the book has instructed, said, out loud, certain triggers and haunting memories while I tapped parts of my body: “Even though I am plagued with this memory of *********** that has changed me for the rest of my life, I love and accept myself” My head was in a noose not an hour later. Why? Triggers, certain words and situations can cause panic attacks, or unescapable transient depression, in patients with my condition. The act of saying aloud had done just that, for me. I survived.

If you are a PTSD patient (or someone with no money to waste on non-science from a quack.. oh, wait, non-doctor b.s. artist) please please please do not buy this book and put more money in the hands of this criminal. For PTSD patients, may I recommend Paxil: it worked wonders for me!

I’m an experienced EFT practitioner and bought this book because I wanted to start volunteering to help veterans (through [...] – free help for vets). I thought it might help me feel more confident with this very intense issue. The book far exceeded my expectations! While it serves as an excellent stand alone how-to introduction for doing basic EFT, it goes on to provide very specific strategies and suggestions for helping even the most traumatized person–not just vets, also victims of natural disasters and violent crime, EMTs and others.

One of strengths of this book is that Gary Craig includes the writings of other EFT therapists, who share their experience, perspectives and approaches. It also includes many real life examples, including some taken from a seven day study with vets, which made the book very interesting and readable. I learned a tremendous amount from this little book and feel much more confident now, with helping vets in particular.

I’d recommend this book to anyone suffering from PTSD, even if they don’t want to work on their own. They are likely to find the book very encouraging, and it will greatly reduce any resistance to getting help from this new and seemingly “weird” technique. I’d also highly recommend this book to conventional therapists.

Gary Craig’s work with veterans is now in book form for all of us to read and learn from. PTSD affects war veterans and many others who have survived terrible experiences in their lives that are still causing them to live lives of quiet desperation filled with fears, addictions and broken relationships. As a licensed MFT I have helped numerous people to reclaim their lives using EFT to heal traumatic memories. This book offers information and hope. Buy it for yourself and give it as gifts to those you know who are still suffering.

“EFT for PTSD” is a wonderful addition to the PTSD literature. Not focusing on the theory or even the diagnosis of PTSD, this book quickly moves into a unique process for helping to heal PTSD. For those not familiar with EFT, this will be an odd-looking technique but well worth attempting. This is the most valuable technique I use in my work as a therapist of clients with chronic PTSD.

The main advantage of this book is it’s concrete and replicatable technique. A refreshing relief to so many books on the topic which theorize or opine but do not spell out exactly what to do about PTSD. Although there is value in books which provide understanding, there is an even greater need for books such as this which provide the steps for healing.

The steps are clearly spelled out and the book is well formatted to help either a therapist or someone with PTSD learn the steps accurately. The book then does a good job of helping those who are not getting progress to identify how to improve their healing.

Overall, a well done and well laid out book for someone who is ready to take steps to heal. Additionally, a wonderful guide for a therapist or counselor who is looking for a source to develop competence in this extremely helpful technique.

Buy it, study it, practice it, use it. It will be worth the effort.
